Future physicians, nurses and lab technicians can apply for a scholarship that will help with post secondary education.

The Red Deer Regional Health Foundation is accepting applications for 2019 health-care scholarships until March 1.

Thanks to generous donors, scholarships worth a total of $40,000 are available in a variety of health-care fields, including cardiology, respiratory health medicine, hospice palliative care, nursing, paediatrics and so on.

Health foundation board director Shelley Lawrence said the $40,000 will be divided up between several scholarships.

“We have 14 different scholarships that are available … and they will have differing values – they won’t all be the same amount,” said Lawrence on Monday.

Central Alberta students who are enrolled, or will be enrolled in post secondary school, and live within 100 kilometres of Red Deer are eligible to apply.

“We have a significant number of scholarship applications. We have anywhere from 65 to 100 applications annually,” said Lawrence.
