Jamshedpur: In a proactive effort to promote inclusivity and sensitivity towards disabilities, the Yi Jamshedpur Accessibility Vertical organized a session on the Detection of Early Signs of Autism at DBMS B.Ed College, Jamshedpur. The session, facilitated by  Leena Adesara, Principal of Gyanoday Noble Academy, a specialized school for autistic children, aimed to educate students and educators alike on recognizing and addressing autism spectrum disorders.

The 45-minute session witnessed the participation of approximately 150 students, along with Principal  Juhi Samarpita, teachers, and Yi members Neha Agrawal and Ankita Naredi. The interactive segment at the end allowed students to engage directly with  Adesara, posing insightful questions related to autism.

Adesara commenced the session by providing an overview of autism, elucidating its various types, indicators, and the spectrum it encompasses. Delving deeper, she shed light on the potential causes of autism and elucidated methods for identifying the disorder at its early stages, crucial for effective intervention.

The session served as a cornerstone of Yi Jamshedpur’s broader Inclusivity Drive, aimed at fostering a culture of understanding and acceptance of diverse abilities within educational settings. By equipping current and future educators with the knowledge and tools to support students with autism, the initiative endeavors to create a more inclusive schooling environment.

In line with this mission, the next phase of the Inclusivity Drive will focus on promoting inclusive practices at Tarapore School, Agrico, with the aim of encouraging schools across Jamshedpur to embrace diversity and ensure equal access to education for all students.

The session on early detection of autism marks a significant step towards building a more inclusive society, where individuals of all abilities are valued and supported in their educational journey.
