Woman's Club schedules 'Taste of Tewksbury' event for March 25

The Woman's Club of Tewksbury Township will host its third biennial fundraiser, " a Taste of Tewksbury"  on Saturday, March 25, 6-9 PM, at Merck and Company, 600 Corporate Drive, Lebanon, 08833.

Denise Layton of Flemington and Deidre Quinn of Tewksbury, WCTT Second Vice-Presidents and Co-Chairs of the event, have announced that a portion of this year's profits will support "Points for Pain", a fundraiser started in 2015 by Tyler Cashman, a Tewksbury resident and student at the Tewksbury Middle School.

The event, sponsored by Tewksbury Fine Wines & Spirits of Oldwick, features gourmet food tastings and premium wine, bourbon and whiskey samplings.

Food will be provided by 13 area restaurants:  Bex's Eatery & Catering Co., The Bernard's Inn, Boulevard Seafood Company, Brunello Trattoria Restaurant and Bar, The Clinton  House, Conlin's Cafe & Bakery, The Farm Cooking School, Gourmet Expressions Cafe and Catering, Melick's Town Farm, Metropolitan Seafood and Gourmet, Oldwick General Store, The Ryland Inn and The Seventh Taste.

A keepsake wine glass will be given to each guest for sampling the beverages provided by select vendors chosen by Tewksbury Fine Wines & Spirits.

Christopher Albrecht of The Ryland Inn and Scott Cutano of Oldwick General Store will serve as Celebrity Chefs for the evening.  Music will be provided by Roulette, The Band.

"Points for Pain" benefits the US Pain Foundation's Pediatric Pain Program which includes a Pediatric Pain Camp, where kids attend camp with kids facing similar problems;  "INvisible Project" magazine, validating children's problems by highlighting personal struggles and strengths; and "Take Control of your Pain" events, involving educational seminars designed to teach about the latest pain management advances and complimentary therapies.

Tyler was living with the chronic pain his mother experienced on a daily basis.  He saw the impact this condition had on families and wanted to make a difference in the lives of the children who were themselves suffering from chronic pain.  He knew he couldn't remove the pain but he wanted to raise awareness of this "invisible" illness.  He wanted to empower kids to help them along their journey  and know they are not alone.  He arranged small fund raising events at his school and was overwhelmed by the support he got from both his teachers and his fellow students.  Donations have been raised at basket ball games held at his own school, at Voorhees High School and at Montclair University.

Additional monies raised by the event will augment the club's Charitable Budget for donation to local community organizations. Tickets, at $75 per person, are limited and can be purchased at the Oldwick office of the Peapack Gladstone Bank, Tewksbury Fine Wines & Spirits or by calling 908-509-1855.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  Tax deductible donations may be made at www.tewksburywomansclub.com.

The Woman's Club of Tewksbury Township is open to any woman 18 years of age or older, who resides in Tewksbury Township or the surrounding area.  Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, September thru June, at the Oldwick Manor, 163 Oldwick Rd., Oldwick 08858, at 9 AM, unless otherwise noted.  A guest speaker of interest to the members is invited to address the meeting.

Membership includes participation in a state wide organization - the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs, a division of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, which is "dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others".  The NJ Federation 's mission is "Volunteers in Action - Making a Difference in the Lives of Others One Project at a Time!".

In the spirit of the Federation's purpose,  the Woman's Club of Tewksbury Township is organized for charitable and educational purposes.  Monies are raised and distributed to its scholarship funds, to area non-profit organizations and to municipal volunteer groups designated by the Charitable Budget Committee upon recommendation from the WCTT members.  These goals are achieved by working together and developing  a sense of camaraderie and fellowship. The various committees are designed strictly for enjoyment and for engaging members in a sense of involvement.

Information about joining the club or learning more about its activities can be had by calling 908-509-1855, visiting tewksburywomansclub.org or contacting the club at tewksburywomansclub@gmail.com.
