OLBH to Provide Free Lung Screenings at Town Center
ASHLAND
The Bon Secours Kentucky Health System and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) will host free lung function testing at the Ashland Town Center, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Breathlessness is one signal that can indicate a need for a lung function test. COPD is a non-communicable lung disease that progressively robs sufferers of breath. Without treatment, COPD is a progressive disease. The earlier COPD is detected, the more effective treatment can be. Medicines for COPD alleviate symptoms of breathlessness so that patients can participate more fully in daily life. Patients may be able to slow or even stop the progress of COPD by reducing their exposure to risk factors for the disease. However, the early stages of COPD often go unrecognized, and many COPD patients do not receive a diagnosis until their disease is relatively advanced.
