Trying to conceive? Avoid these bad habits
If you are planning to start your family, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. Not just this, there are a few everyday habits that you need to change in order to conceive without any troubles. Here’s a list of five such things you need to STOP doing when you plan to conceive:
Stop drinking alcohol
We all know pregnant women are strictly advised against drinking alcohol.
But did you know women should avoid alcohol even when they are trying to conceive? Consumption of alcohol is linked to both infertility and miscarriage.
Reduce your intake of caffeine
Can’t do without your morning coffee? Here’s some bad news for you. As per studies, caffeine has been associated with infertility and miscarriage. If you can’t cut back on caffeine totally, at least try to reduce your intake.
Neglecting your dental health
If you have been laidback about your dental hygiene, it’s time to buckle up. You and your partner both should make an appointment with the dentist and get your pearly whites super healthy before
getting pregnant. Poor oral hygiene can affect the sperm count in men and increase the risk of having a premature delivery.
Stop smoking
According to a study published in Human Reproduction, smoking has worse effects on women trying to conceive or undergoing fertility treatment. Smoking also reduces the potential of a woman by almost 10 years. And as we all know fertility decreases with advancing age.
Nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes interfere with the body’s ability to create estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that regulates ovulation. Though the damage caused by smoking is irreversible, stopping smoking can prevent further damage though.
Don’t opt for herbal remedies
Do not try something that has been studied. Some of the popular remedies like Echinacea, which is a popular immune booster can inhibit sperm penetration and have other adverse effects. It’s safest to avoid whatever has not been researched and studied properly.
