ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar) – For 5 days, Tina Ponce was left wondering.

Who shot her daughter, 25-year-old Brittany Martinez, a mother of 3, in the head and in the leg?

Police just answered that question.

“Braiden Stout was positively identified as the same subject who shot both victims last week,” said Cpl. Steve LeSueur of Odessa Police Department.

20-year-old Braiden Ray Stout is charged with 2 counts of aggravated robbery for the double shooting last Wednesday on Drury Lane in South Odessa. The shooting also sent another man to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Stout was also wanted for a robbery at a Monahans Hotel. He was arrested in Monahans.

“When I was notified, I literally fell to my knees and said, ‘Thank the Lord,’ for he answered my prayers,” said Tina Ponce, Brittany’s mother.

Tina Ponce has been praying. Her daughter is in pain.

“She’s got feeling in two of her toes, and in other two and a half of her toes, she doesn’t,” said Ponce.

Doctors say the shooting left Brittany with neurological damage. But Tina says, some of her prayers are being answered. Doctors were able to save Brittany’s leg.

“She is not brain dead. She is still here with me. She’s getting up from this bed. She’s fighting,” said Ponce.

Halfway through our interview, it seemed another prayer was answered. Tina got a call from the hospital. Brittany is coming home.

“These aren’t tears of sadness. These are tears of joy.”

A small miracle in action, for this family to be reunited.
