Metro Atlanta McDonald’s holds baby shower for ‘little nugget’ born in restroom

ATLANTA, Ga. — Nandi Phillips was born the day before Thanksgiving in an unexpected location, the restroom of an Atlanta McDonald’s restaurant.

On Wednesday, Nandi’s parents and McDonald’s staff celebrated her arrival with a baby shower at the restaurant.

Nandi’s parents, Alandria Worthy and Deandre Phillips, were on the way to the hospital, but stopped at McDonald’s on Fulton Industrial Boulevard because Worthy thought she needed to use the restroom.

Instead, Nandi decided it was time to make her debut.

Fortunately there were three McDonald’s employees — all moms — there to help her through the birthing process.

Nandi’s three new “aunties” were at the shower on Wednesday to help celebrate.

The restaurant’s owner and operator, Steve Akinboro, was joined by his employees to present the new family with gifts including diapers, baby formula, a cake and more.

Though the birth didn’t go as originally planned, Worthy said the bathroom was very clean.
