Grady has the 4th most emergency room visits in the U.S.

According to new research conducted by the health experts at NiceRx, the top 10 US hospitals with the most emergency room visits have been revealed. The study also looked into the most and least common reasons for emergency room visits in the US, as well as the states with the highest number of emergency room visits.

Leading the way in the top 10 is the Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, Texas, with 210,152 emergency room visits. The Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida follows closely behind with 190,581 visits, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in New York City comes in at third place with 164,979 visits.

In fourth place is Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital, which saw 160,027 emergency room visits. Rounding out the top 10 are St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth in Fort Worth, Texas, Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California, and WakeMed Raleigh Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The study also found that the state of Georgia had a total of 800,050 emergency room visits over a one-year period, which is equal to 733 visits per 10,000 residents. New York had the highest number of emergency room visits across the US, with over 1.9 million visits in 2019, or 2,283 visits per 10,000 residents. In contrast, Hawaii had the fewest emergency room visits, with 342 visits per 10,000 residents.

The most common reason for emergency room visits across the US was maternal and neonatal conditions, with a total of 519,500 discharges in December 2021. To view the full research, visit the NiceRx website at https://www.nicerx.com/blog/state-of-emergency/.
