The student throws punches and knocks Ms Turner to the ground, injuring her knee and leg.

Other teachers rush to pull the young girl away and call for emergency services to send Ms Turner to the hospital.

Verdaillia Turner, president of the Georgia Federation of Teachers, told Fox5: "Students are out of control.

"There is no excuse for the violence. There is no excuse for children who are coming into our school daily and wreaking havoc so other students cannot learn."

According to a GoFundMe campagin, Ms Turner was covering another class in lieu of her co-worker’s absence.

It read: "Yesterday, her life was suddenly altered, and now she will require several mobility accommodations while she recovers.

"She is currently hospitalised with knee and leg injuries, and is unable to walk. She will not be returning to work anytime soon, and she will require extensive rehabilitation and therapy."
