Bumble’s resident sexologist and dating expert launch new ‘Give Me A Buzz’ podcast

Lucille McCart, dating expert at Bumble, and Bumble sexologist, Chantelle Otten, are launching a podcast called ‘Give Me A Buzz’.

The announcement:

Navigating the complexities of modern romance in the digital age is an ever-evolving journey, which is why Bumble’s own dating expert Lucille McCart has teamed up with long-standing bestie and Bumble’s resident sexologist, Chantelle Otten to take the dating advice out of the group chat and launch a brand new podcast, Give Me A Buzz.

The first season, hot off the press from the app that started a movement by putting women in charge when dating, will guide Gen Zs and Millennials through modern dating and relationships. The podcast has been curated for everyone who is interested in the human behaviour that reveals itself in dating, so whether you’re a seasoned swiper, just dipping your toes in the dating pool or currently in a relationship – there’s a wide range of topics to be explored.

Each week, along with a special guest, Lucille and Chantelle will unpack subjects such as ethical non-monogamy, body positivity, dating with a disability, the intersection between astrology and compatibility, sexting etiquette and digital consent, modern masculinity, dating
safety and so much more.

According to 2023 data from The Infinite Dial Australia – which tracks digital media use internationally – Australia has now surpassed the US to be a world leader in podcast listening, with 43% of the population aged 12 and over having listened to a podcast in the past month.

Lucille has been part of Bumble’s journey from tech start-up, to one of the few female-founded companies to ever IPO on the NASDAQ and has been an expert guest on many Australian podcasts, including Big Small Talk, Happy Hour with Lucy and Nikki, Psychology of Your 20s and more. Meanwhile, Chantelle is an award-winning psychosexologist, author and podcast host, who is experienced in helping people work through a range of sex, dating and relationship issues.

Lucille McCart, Bumble’s dating expert says, “We know that 2024 is the year of the self in dating, and we’re seeing Australians feeling more empowered in the way they date, prioritising what they value and want. We hope that Give Me A Buzz will help listeners navigate finding the kind of meaningful connections they want, whether that is through dissecting shared experiences, reframing dating challenges and relieving pressures, and help remind singles of how to make their dating experiences lighter, easier and more fun. It has been so much fun to share Bumble data and insights with our guests, who have brought some amazing personal stories on everything from ethical non-monogamy to practical ways to Val-Core date. We can’t wait for people to listen.”

The inaugural season has ten 45 minute episodes which will be released weekly on Tuesdays from 23 April 2024. The first episode welcomes author, podcaster and Cheek Media founder, Hannah Ferguson where the trio delve into everything from values and political beliefs, dating expectations and boundaries, to bringing joy back to modern dating, and how to curate the perfect dating app profile.

Additional guests throughout season one include consent advocate Chanel Contos, queer artist and podcaster Kath Ebbs, meme queen Miss Double Bay, musician and Inspired Unemployed alum Dom Littrich, queer chef and internet bestie Khanh Ong, and more.

Chantelle Otten, Bumble’s resident sexologist says, “’Give Me A Buzz’ is all about addressing what’s missing in discussions around modern dating, relationships, sex, and everything that falls in between. We wanted it to be a straightforward yet fun and engaging podcast for conversations that many shy away from. I’m optimistic about dating today and believe there’s a lot to look forward to. My long standing partnership with Bumble is a big driver behind this project, reflecting our mutual goal to tackle these topics head-on. We’re stepping in to share insights and stories and provide a fresh perspective for everyone navigating the complex world of sex, dating and relationships.”

Give Me A Buzz is proudly produced by MIK, the audio experts behind some of Australia’s favourite and most successful podcasts including Big Small Talk, Two Broke Chicks, Sometimes Funny, Always Awkward and more.

Dylan Adams, head of Audio at MIK says, “Podcasts are emerging as one of the key ways Millennial and Gen Zs consume media, news and pop culture, with Aussies the world leaders in podcast listening according to recent data. We’re excited to authentically partner with
Bumble to bring Give Me A Buzz to life, as we know that audio provides an unparalleled and intimate form of engagement. Give Me A Buzz will give Aussies the opportunity to connect and have all their biggest dating questions and concerns answered, right at the source.”
