Former Georgia football star David Pollack announced Monday on his X account that his wife, Lindsey, has been diagnosed with brain cancer and is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday at Duke University Health in North Carolina.
“I do not share much of my personal life on social media but today is gonna be different. If you are the praying type please lift up my wife Lindsey. She has brain cancer and surgery is Wednesday at Duke. So thankful to serve a loving God that meets us in our struggles!” Pollack wrote in his post.
The announcement has sparked an overwhelming response on social media. Within hours, the post garnered millions of views along with thousands of likes and comments, as fans, former teammates and media personalities rallied around the Pollack family.
Pollack, who earned All-American honors three times during his tenure at the University of Georgia, was a first-round pick for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2005 NFL Draft. His promising professional career was cut short by a career-ending neck injury early in his time with the team. Since then, Pollack has remained a familiar face in sports media, most notably as an analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay, and more recently as host of the “Family Goals Pod.”
Beyond his personal challenges, Pollack and his wife also lead the Pollack Family Foundation, which provides support to families in Athens and the Greater Atlanta area. Their work with the foundation has long highlighted a commitment to community service.
As Lindsey Pollack prepares for her upcoming surgery, heartfelt messages of prayer and support continue to pour in from across the sports world. Colleagues like Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit have all expressed their solidarity, showcasing the unity and resilience that has come to define Pollack’s career both on and off the field.
