7. An attempt to ban Delta-8, a hemp derived-THC product sold in convenience stores, has failed in the Alabama State Senate with a bill Alabama State Sen. Tim Melson (R-Florence) said would have made it a Schedule I substance being rejected in the Senate Healthcare Committee with a split vote. Critics feared it would harm small businesses and fuel a black market, a wholly absurd claim as the drug is just a workaround current laws and everyone knows it. Lawmakers are now considering legalizing it and taxing it at 6% as the state moves closer to become more friendly to marijuana and it’s derivatives.
6. %^#* THIS! A bill State Rep. Allen Treadway (R-Morris) would allow law enforcement to arrest people for using abusive language, obscene gestures, or staying within 25 feet of first responders after being told to leave was approved by a House committee as part of a GOP public safety push. Civil rights groups and Democrats like Rep. Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa), argue its broad terms threaten free speech and make protesting nearly impossible. Amendments are possible, with potential focus on the distance piece and away from the potential free speech issues.
5. Because the media and their Democrats can not build anything, they must destroy everyone they disagree with. We are now witnessing doxxing everyone who owns a Tesla in the United States, yet the false suggestions that the CEO is a Nazi, a fascist, and raiding the government illegally persists and have gone mainstream. A group of Musk-hating hackers created DOGEQUEST, exposing the names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails of Tesla owners across the U.S., alongside Tesla showroom and DOGE employee locations, using a Molotov cocktail symbol to signal their intent. Elon Musk denounced the site as “extreme domestic terrorism, which it is and an invitation to commit. As a wave of anti-Tesla protests and vandalism persists, the hackers are demanding proof of vehicle sales to remove owners’ data.
4. Gov. Kay Ivey signed a ban on “Glock switches,” which make handguns into automatic weapons, even though it is already illegal on the federal level. The Democrat-led effort will allegedly empower Alabama law enforcement against rising gang crime in cities where the local leadership said these devices are driving the high crime rates. Originally, the bill included what is known as a “red flag law” that would make it easier for law enforcement to take firearms away from citizens; but that was stripped out by State Sen. Will Barfoot (R-Pike Road) before being passed.
3. President Donald Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and claimed progress toward a 30-day partial ceasefire with Russia, building on a two-hour call with Putin where a halt on energy attacks was agreed. Zelensky accepted the limited ceasefire but noted Russian drone strikes on civilian targets persisted post-call, a claim Russia has denied. Both sides prepare for technical talks in Saudi Arabia next week as the world potentially moves toward peace.
2. A very small number of protesters “rallied” at the Alabama State House against Alabama’s latest attempt at immigration reform, complaining that keeping track of immigrant workers and criminalizing travel across state lines with undocumented people. On the latter, an activist described trafficking immigrants across state lines, and then said that no one should be punished for it, “Imagine this, you drive from Opelika right next to Auburn, across the river to Columbus, Georgia, just to pick up your Abuela so that she can visit with the grandkids for the weekend. On your way back from Opelika, you get pulled over, arrested and accused of smuggling an immigrant. That’s not justice.” There are currently 10 bills on immigration being discussed and there is a real motivation in the Legislature to get them passed.
1. A fake town hall will be held Saturday in Athens, as Indivisible targets U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia). There was another town hall put on by another dumb mob attempting to appear like their astroturfed antics are a grassroots response to what is happening in Washington as they scream at a member of Congress foolish enough to set up a town hall for them – this time it was U.S. Rep. Mike Flood (R-Neb.) and Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.). Flood stood at a podium like a dope and faced over an hour of malcontents screaming at him about President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and their pet issues. The crowd was coordinated by MoveOn and Indivisible, and did not like his answers where he continued to support Trump policies and Elon Musk’s DOGE. Protesters shouted “Tax the rich” which massively undercuts the made-up narrative that this is a Republican members’ core constituency and not a group of liberals hellbent on getting cable news TV time.
