(Juneau) One in four older adults have a fall each year according to the Center for Disease Control and Wisconsin leads the nation in fall-related deaths for people aged 60 or older. The good news is that the Aging and Disability Center of Dodge County is offering older adults a fall prevention workshop called Stepping On.
The program has been researched and has been proven to reduce falls by 31%. It will take place every Wednesday beginning April 2 through May 14 at Trinity Church-United Methodist from 10am to noon.
The seven-week, two-hour program will give participants strategies for avoiding falls including balance and strength exercises, home safety check suggestions, and medication review.
There will also be guest experts including a physical therapist and pharmacist. This workshop is designed for those over the age of 60, who have fallen, or have a fear of falling. Anyone interested in registering is asked to call the ADRC of Dodge County at 920-386-3580.
