HESWALL Ladies Bowling Club’s new season starts at the end of this month. It meets every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1.15 to 3.30pm on Heswall green, by Heswall Hall, weather permitting. No experience necessary.

Poetry contest
ENTRIES are now being taken for this year’s Wirral Open Poetry Festival competition. The contest will be adjudicated by distinguished poets Helen Ivory and Martin Figura, while special Wirral prizes for poets from Wirral will be adjudicated by Merseyside poet, Pauline Rowe.

AN exhibition celebrating the artistic talents of students from Wirral secondary schools is on view at the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight.
Fresh Perspectives features work by creatives aged 14 to 18 and celebrates ‘an impressive selection of artwork exploring a wide range of themes across a variety of different media’. Schools taking part are Prenton High School for Girls, South Wirral High School, Upton Hall School FCJ, Weatherhead High School and West Kirby Grammar School. Race for life
ENTRIES are now being taken for this year’s Wirral Race For Life events in aid of Cancer Research UK. Taking place in Birkenhead Park on Sunday May 18, it is open to people of all ages and abilities. People can choose from 3k, 5k and 10k events.
There is also a chance to take part in Pretty Muddy, a 5k mud-splattered obstacle course, and there’s a Pretty Muddy Kids option. To enter, visit raceforlife.org
