Frito-Lay is recalling its Tostitos Cantina brand of corn tortilla chips sold in 13 states due to an undeclared milk allergen.

The affected chips were sold in 13-ounce bags and were recalled after some nacho cheese chips were found to be mixed in with the regular corn tortilla chips, according to the company.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” Frito-Lay announced Wednesday.

According to Frito-Lay, less than 1,300 chip bags were affected.

Yet the products were sold in several different states at Walmart, Target and other grocery stores, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

The chips have also been sold online, including Amazon, since March 7.

They affected bags have a UPC of 28400 or 52848, a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 20 MAY 2025 and one of the following manufacturing codes where “XX” is any number from 30 to 55:

  • 471106504 18 13:XX
  • 471106505 85 13:XX
  • 471106506 85 13:XX
  • 471106507 85 13:XX

Frito Lay stressed that the “product is safe to consume” unless a customer is sensitive or allergic to milk.

Those who are allergic or sensitive to milk should not consume the product.

Customers who have the product can call 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday) for more details, or visit the company’s ‘Contact Us’ web page.

This is the second time Frito-Lay issued a similar recall in the past several months on one of its products.

In December, the company recalled select bags of Lay’s Potato Chips due to an undeclared milk allergen.
