Strasburg man among 7 sentenced for fentanyl trafficking operation

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (WHSV) - Seven people were sentenced for their involvement in a drug trafficking operation that stretched from Baltimore to West Virginia, including a man from Strasburg, Virginia.

Eighty-two individuals were indicted in January 2024 and charged with distributing “substantial amounts” of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Among the seven individuals sentenced the week of March 31, 2025, two are from Virginia:

  • Ryan Brennan, age 33, of Strasburg, Virginia, sentenced to five years’ probation
  • Kendall Axavier Baker, age 32, of Winchester, Virginia, sentenced to time served
  • James Beau Baker, age 29, of Charles Town, West Virginia, sentenced to 97 months
  • Amanda Nicole Albert, 32, of Knoxville, Maryland, sentenced to 46 months in prison
  • Kaitlyn Ashley Knight, age 32, of Falling Waters, West Virginia, sentenced to three years’ probation
  • April Dawn Wentzell, age 37, of Ranson, West Virginia, sentenced to time served
  • Aaron Joshua James, age 31, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, sentenced to 70 months in prison

Eighty of the 82 defendants in the indictment have been convicted so far, and 44 — including the seven above — have been sentenced.
