In support of National Public Health Week, Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. has authorized administrative leave for all non-essential government employees who desire to participate in the Employee Resource Group Wednesday Walk, Government House announced Tuesday.
The event, organized by the Health Department, will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. today. Walk Wednesday, aimed at promoting physical activity and mental health, will be held at Altona Lagoon on St. Croix and, on St. Thomas, the walk will begin at Griffith Park to Lucinda Millin Home and back.
To facilitate employee participation, Bryan has directed that non-essential government employees be granted 1.5 hours of administrative leave from 3:30 to 5 p.m., according to the news release.
“Encouraging health and wellness for all members of our community is a priority for this administration. By supporting events like the Employee Resource Group Wednesday Walk, we hope to foster a culture of well-being within our workforce,” Bryan said. “It’s important that we take care of ourselves, both physically and mentally, so that we can better serve our families, our communities, and our territory.”
This administrative leave will not apply to essential employees, employees on regular or rotating shifts, or those on annual or sick leave, the news release said.
