Government Officials Reportedly Obstructed Trump’s Plan to Cancel Social Security for Illegal Aliens

Internal resistance and media leaks emerge after more than 6,000 illegal aliens lose federal benefits

Government bureaucrats reportedly attempted to obstruct President Donald Trump’s initiative to cancel Social Security benefits for illegal aliens, including those released into the United States under former President Joe Biden’s immigration programs, according to a report from the Washington Post.

The policy, announced late last week, led to the cancellation of Social Security numbers and associated benefits for over 6,300 illegal immigrants. However, current and former officials within the Social Security Administration (SSA) have allegedly resisted the move, raising internal objections and leaking information to the media.

Among them was Greg Pearre, a top SSA technology official, who oversaw hundreds of staff members and objected to the plan to reclassify illegal aliens as deceased in the Social Security death database. The goal of this classification was to strip the individuals of wage-earning capabilities and prompt their departure from the United States.

Pearre reportedly clashed with Scott Coulter, the new Chief Information Officer installed by Elon Musk, stating that the action was “illegal, cruel and risked declaring the wrong people dead,” according to three unnamed sources. Following the disagreement, Pearre was removed from his post and escorted out by security, the Post reported.

Another unnamed SSA official resigned in protest, calling the move “an illegal attempt to repurpose the agency for immigration enforcement,” again according to the Post.

The SSA’s Office of the General Counsel is preparing a report that will reportedly argue the policy may violate privacy laws, raising additional legal questions.

This development comes as the Trump administration simultaneously formalized an agreement between the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), enabling federal agents to use financial records to locate, detain, and deport illegal immigrants more efficiently.

Officials from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have also stated they have found evidence suggesting that potentially millions of illegal aliens have been fraudulently receiving benefits via Social Security and Medicaid programs. Additionally, they identified thousands of non-citizens appearing on voter rolls across several states.

This series of actions marks a significant shift in how the federal government is targeting immigration enforcement, tying benefits systems directly into broader national security and deportation efforts. The Trump administration has signaled that further interagency coordination is likely as it continues to review the use of federal resources in support of immigration policy.
