A mother has broken down live on air after detailing the trauma she’s had after having a premature baby.

Jasmine, mother of baby George, who was born 16 weeks premature in December last year and weighing only 699 grams, said she has to pinch herself that she has a son.

“If it wasn’t for this hospital (Royal Children’s), I wouldn’t have a son with me,” Jasmine told Heidi Murphy on 3AW Mornings.

“You just don’t realise how amazing and how much strength these babies have.

“I’m very grateful.”
