BG Fair Animal Inspections - SM

Maryland Department of Agriculture livestock inspector Emily Taylor checks a blanketed sheep that had arrived at the barns of The Great Frederick Fair on Friday afternoon. All the animals competing at the fair are checked to make sure vaccination and other paperwork is current.

As more than 3,500 exhibitors arrived at The Great Frederick Fair — many with livestock in tow — Animal Health geared up to make sure it was a healthy and safe week of competition.

Field Veterinarian Marla Stevens and inspector Emily Taylor walked down the rows of the early arrivals at the goat, sheep and dairy barns on Friday afternoon. They paused in front of each pen to count and assess the health of each animal.
