Learn what ASU lab is doing to help tackle Arizona's extreme heat at June 22 event
It’s no news that summers in Arizona are hot. An Arizona state University-led laboratory is studying ways to tackle extreme heat in our state.
The lab is hosting a community night Saturday, June 22, at the Desert Botanical Garden.
The laboratory project focuses on understanding extreme heat and finding solutions to mitigate the effects. And the event provides an opportunity for researchers to connect with the public and get input.
“They can also interact with our researchers who will be there to answer questions and they can really just engage with our researchers, learn more about our efforts," said ASU professor David Sailor, who is the director of the laboratory.
Other partners associated with the Southwest Urban Corridor Integrated Field Laboratory include the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.
The lab also works with several municipalities.
“So we've worked with local cities, so we're working with Tucson down south, but we're also working with Phoenix and Mesa and other cities in the Phoenix metro area, and working with them to explore the efficacy of different strategies," he said.
People can see weather and air quality instruments used by the laboratory while in attendance.
